She was broken yet happy. How was that even possible? She stood in the center of hundreds of people; sweat filled the air as the music boomed in everyone’s ears. Amidst it all, her focus was set on one person, one song, one moment. She could feel it through her body as tears welled up and eventually found themselves dripping down her powdered face. She didn’t know why that was happening. She didn’t know why that song caused her to feel this way. Initially looking at the boy, she instantly turned her head. She was too proud to show her dampened face. Covering her eyes with her arms, she hurriedly walked out of the room. She couldn’t handle it. She was too proud to admit that she was feeling this way. Concerned, the boy followed her out. She was too proud to allow the boy any closer. She was at a loss of all the right words, but she found all of the wrong words instead. Her harsh words pushed him away. At that moment, she swore time stopped. The words she could never take back, the resentful glare that he gave her, the regret she felt. Time stopped for that one moment as the realization of what she had done along with its horrid emotions sank right into her. She could never take that one moment back.
He left.
